Winter Concert at St Andrew’s Wesley

Last night’s concert at St. Andrew’s Wesley United Church in Vancouver was the kind that reminds you why live music matters. The moment you stepped into the sanctuary, you could feel that mix of quiet anticipation and community warmth. It was the kind of evening where everyone seemed ready to be moved.

The choir, led by Will Cournoyer Clements, set the tone with a sound that was both powerful and precise. Their blend filled the space beautifully, and the way the voices carried in the church’s acoustics made every phrase feel bigger than the room. Rich, clear, and heartfelt, it was a performance that connected.

One of the highlights was the choir’s sing along, which turned the audience into part of the show. The crowd jumped in with real enthusiasm, and the actions were just as fun as the singing. Seeing the whole church following along together added a playful, memorable moment to the night.

Then the senior bands, under the direction of Andrew Smith, brought a whole new kind of energy. Confident and polished, they delivered music that was tight and expressive. You could hear the work in the balance, the clean entrances, and the way the ensemble shaped the music together.

And just when you thought the night could not get more fun, the jazz portion added that extra spark. Rhythm forward, lively, and full of character, it had the audience smiling and leaning in for every moment.

All together, it was an evening that celebrated dedication, artistry, and the joy of making music as a community. Thanks to the leadership of Andrew Smith and Will Cournoyer Clements, and to the musicians who brought the program to life, it was a night to remember.
