Updates for Choir Events, Cabaret and The Real Group

February 25, 2023 Off By Argyle Info

Hello everyone,

Thank you to those who came to the AMA Meeting on Wednesday night. We have some important messages for all our ensembles and Argyle music families this week.

CHAMBER CHOIR AT NVSD FESTIVAL ON THURSDAY

Chamber Choir students are expected to be fully dressed in concert attire for 8:15am at 2121 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver, BC V7M 2K6. Forms were handed out and collected a few weeks ago. Please note, there is NO organized transportation for this event. Students are responsible for arriving at the venue on their own. Beyond water in a water bottle, no food and drink are allowed in the gallery or in the holding room. Singers may eat outside.

Students will have completed their performance at the festival by 12:00pm, in which they can eat/grab lunch at a nearby restaurant and head back to Argyle for their period 8 class. Although students were excused for the entire day, it is recommended they return to the afternoon for their final class of the day.

THE REAL GROUP IS COMING TO ARGYLE!

Select members from The Real Group (one of the world’s premier vocal groups from Stockholm) will be visiting Argyle Secondary on March 7th to work with the Vocal Jazz and Chamber Choir ensembles. We are very excited for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Vocal Jazz students will be excused from Period 5 (11:45am-1:05pm) to share and learn with the clinicians, after which Chamber Choir singers will get to spend the lunch break (1:05-1:45pm) for a masterclass.

If you and your child would like to attend their incredible concert on the evening of March 2nd or March 3rd at Magee Secondary, we have a special promotion code with a discount. Type in the code MAGEEFEST at checkout for $8 off (Frances Roberts and Will Clements will be attending March 3rd if you’d like to join us).

ARGYLE CABARET NIGHT

Argyle CABARET NIGHT on May 26th, 2023 is the primary fund raiser for our graduating music students SCHOLARSHIPS. This year, our 41st Cabaret, will be “Fan Favourites and More”!

Cabaret Night is a special annual event featuring the talents of our student musicians – ALL the Jazz ensembles will perform for your listening and dancing pleasure. There is a buffet dinner, open bar, LIVE student entertainment, a dance floor and an exciting silent auction – who could ask for anything more? PLEASE consider being part of the planning and production team – last year’s team was incredible and we hope to see all these volunteers return plus many more! There is room for you to be involved – please email icanhelp@argylemusic.ca and tell us how you would like to help! (list of opportunities at the bottom of this message) Volunteers get PRIORITY ACCESS to Cabaret Tickets!

We are also currently collecting ITEMS for the Cabaret SILENT AUCTION – bottles of wine, chocolates, gift cards, baskets, etc. Have you received a gift that just wasn’t for you but someone else might love? We’d love to add it to the auction! Suzann Millar is chairing the auction and can be reached at synaro@shaw.ca or donations can be dropped off to Mr. Clements or Ms. Chan in the music department. The Silent Auction raises most of the funds used for the Music Scholarships and running the auction is an enormous job! Suzann can use many helpers to put together and run the auction. Please consider lending a hand…many hands make light work!

Thanks for your continuing support and interest in your child’s music education. We are very excited for you to be a part of presenting another fabulous and successful Argyle Cabaret!
